Grading out of 20: how to work out a score
- Divide the number correct by 20. For 19 out of 20: 19 ÷ 20 = 0.95.
- Multiply by 100: 95%.
- Find that on the grading scale. A is 90% and up, B 80%, C 70% and D 60%, so 19/20 is an A.
Every wrong answer costs 5 percentage points on this test. The grading scales guide compares the standard, plus/minus and 7-point scales.
Marks out of 20 in France

| 8 to under 10 | Second group |

These bands apply to the overall bac average, not to a single test, and mentions are only given to candidates who pass at the first group. Sources: Ministère de l’Éducation nationale, Le baccalauréat général (May 2026) and Eurydice, European Commission (December 2023).
